Dairy men press for higher Detroit milk price

More than 150 dairy farmers from Van Camp local of the Michigan Milk Producers Association met in the circuit court room last night to demand a higher price for milk. They backed their demand with a resolution calling for diverting milk away from retail fluid sale on the Detroit market until $4 a hundredweight for 35 milk at the farm is received.

Suspension Stayed in West OPA Hearing Related Violations

Sixteen Michigan retailers wholesalers and individuals charged by the Office of Price Administration with violating price and rationing regulations in processed meats lands shoes and gasoline received suspension orders Monday from Dennis F. Duniavy Cleveland regional OPA hearing commissioner at hearings in Detroit. A 60 day suspension was staged against Walter C West of Adrian charged with selling one to five cents above the ceiling on canned vegetables and baby foods. Seven other cases were held over for hearings later.

Prisoner Lt Clifford M Spencer now held as German prisoner

Prisoner Lt Clifford M Spencer co-pilot of the Flying Fortress Wicked Wack reported missing over Europe October 8 is now a German prisoner according to information received by his relatives. His parents Mr and Mrs A B Spencer of Detroit, former residents of this vicinity, and his grandparents Mr and Mrs TM ML Morris of Sand Creek are cited. Spencer's wife is living in Detroit.

Sofia Defenses Questioned by German Protest

No Grand Opening Planned for Christmas Shopping Season

Adrian merchants decided at Chamber of Commerce meeting there will be no grand opening for the Christmas shopping season. Stores will stay open two evenings before Christmas on December 22 and 23 until 9 p.m., and on December 24 until 6 p.m. Clerks and employers may celebrate Christmas Eve with their families. The group will discuss Thursday afternoon hours under the 45 hour law later, but most stores are expected to remain open Thursday afternoons.

Holstein Bull Sells for 26000 at National Blue Ribbon Sale

WAUKESHA Wis Nov 16 A Holstein bull aged 16 months, sired by a champion and former world junior butter champion, topped the sale at 26000 dollars. The yearling Carnation Madcap Supreme was bought by Curtiss Candy Company for Libertyville Illinois. The consignor Carnation milk farm near Seattle notes the bull’s high pedigree, with connections to Carnation Imperial and the Ormsby Madcap Fayne line.

Hunters Face OPA Action Over Gas Use On Opening Day
