Donald Logan 20 Petersburg was arraigned and held for further exam.

Lenawee county's war relief funds reached 24721 today with new gifts from industrial plants and groups. The largest single gift was 3570 from Gerity Adrian Manufacturing employees. others include 300 from Adrian Lodge BPOE, 129 from Cutler Dickerson employees, 1050 and 643 from various manufacturers and Ehringer Palmyra workers. The Patriotic League released a summary showing 18760 Industrial Workers Adrian, 817 Palmyra workers, 1989 business groups, 1975 manufacturers gifts, 541 residential, 428 schools, 211 clubs. Willis Moore of Adrian township noted 149 from ten families in district Six Fractional, all in this community.

Clinton Man Killed in Traffic Accident
Clinton man Peter A. Carney aged 48 was killed when his car collided with a truck trailer driven by Fred Hohenberger of Pittsford at a detour intersection of US 112 and a country road two miles north of Clinton. He was thrown from the car and a rear wheel passed over him. Carney, a World War I veteran and American Legion member, never married and is survived by a brother in Lincoln Nebraska and two sisters in Syracuse Indiana and Jackson Michigan. The funeral is Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at House Funeral Home with burial in Brookside cemetery.

Former Adrian Man Dies After B&O Accident
Edward Robert Ferguson of Plymouth Ohio aged 21 died in Willard Hospital after a railroad accident Wednesday noon while a fireman on the Baltimore and Ohio line. He stuck his head from the cab window and was struck by a passing freight train fracturing his skull and rendering him unconscious. He lived in Adrian until two years ago and graduated from Adrian High School in 1935. He is survived by his mother Mrs Ehrbright widow Ruth Merie Van Zandt and a 60-year-old son Robert Edwin Ferguson. His body was brought to the Everiss Funeral Home with funeral arrangements to be announced.

Americans Launch Two Pronged Attack At Guadalcanal
American forces on Guadalcanal pushed a five pronged drive, penetrating a western flank and threatening another while killing 350 Japanese and seizing 12 37MM guns, three field pieces, and 30 machine guns.
