John Harsh, 31, who escaped Lenawee county jail April 2 while jailed for forgery and auto theft, was recaptured after a two hour chase. He drove a stolen car into a ditch near Blissfield, eluding deputies and state police before being intercepted on US-223 and taken to a county jail. Harsh sustained a chipped shoulder. he attributed the turn of events to drinking. Ezra Bertram, who fled with him, was captured near Clinton and later sentenced for breaking and entering. The Lenawee jail had seen five escapes since October 1941.
