Baldwin Arrest in Chicago Ends Abduction Plot

Baldwin the cigar maker is accused of luring sixteen year old Florence Spielman from Baldwin caught had taken the girls as far as Portland Oregon and back to Chicago where he was arrested. The girl returned home after telling her parents and Bettis the full story. Authorities pursued via telegraph and the Wabash line. The charge is statutory rape and Baldwin may face state prison if convicted.

Baldwin to be extradited to Adrian amid case interest

Institute Closing Session At Central School

The closing session of the teachers institute was held at the Central school building this afternoon. Miss Wise spoke on manual training with clay modeling, picture cutting, and other crafts, then presented an object lesson in reading. Miss Maud Parker of Ann Arbor will teach physiology, botany, and hygiene next week.

Fatal crossing accident in Albles Michigan

At Clough's Crossing near Albles Michigan a westbound electric car struck a buggy carrying George Roper and his nephew, instantly killing both. The buggy failed to stop in time as a freight train noise masked the approach. the horse escaped unhurt while the car and occupants were thrown about.
