Figy Rejects Civil Service Plan for Agriculture
Lansing July 204? Charles Figy Michigan Commissioner of Agriculture rejected a $7,500 a year agricultural director post as impractical and unnecessary. He also turned down a $3,200 a year procedure analyst and training officer and opposed abolishing the animal husbandry bureau, proposing renaming it the Bureau of State Institutional Farms with Alton B. Clark as institutional farm coordinator. The board had directed supervision of all institutional farms, aligning with parts of his reorganization.

Oberlin M. Carter, a West Point graduate known as the American Dreyfus, died at age 8 in Chicago after a 45 year fight to overturn a 1899 court martial conviction for defrauding the government.
