Longtime Civil War veteran Lester Salsbury dies at 74

Lester H. Salsbury, a Lenawee County native and former prosecutor, died Sunday at his Adrian home after a long illness linked to Gettysburg wounds. Born June 25, 1842, in Dover Township, he served in the Fourth Michigan Infantry and was wounded at Gettysburg, Mine Run, and in other campaigns. He later practiced law in Hudson and Adrian, taught and studied at Oberlin and Hillsdale, and ran for congress in 1880. He married Sue Quinn in 1881. no children survived. Funeral planned at his home tomorrow afternoon.

Family reunions at Pease home honor long-held ties

Fourth of July Festivities In Adrian Morenci And Morenci

Waterspout and flood devastate Oakford Park area disaster

A massive water spout near Oakford Park Greensburg Pennsylvania Saturday caused a dam to fail flooding the ravine. At least twenty died and rumors put the toll above two hundred as crowds fled to hills and searchers, led by manager James McGrath, scoured the wreckage. Car and park structures were swept away and many missing include women and children.
