Wisconsin Michigan Soldiers To Return Home In March

Milwaukee Journal war correspondent Robert J. Doyle reports from New Guinea that first groups of Red Arrow troops with 21 months overseas service will start returning to the United States in March on a monthly quota. Preference will go to those with six months in tropical areas and veterans of the Buna campaign. Returns depend on quotas and may expand as ships and replacements become available, with many Wisconsin and Michigan men of the 32nd Division and associated medical units expected home by next Christmas.

Nazi Loving Nurse Won't Be Deported

Johanna Treiber a 53 year old German born nurse in Detroit surrendered her US citizenship and faced cancellation of citizenship after remarks that she would kiss Hitler’s foot but she denied endorsing such acts. Federal Judge Edward J Main commended her honesty while stating the action did not render her deportable and Treiber declined to reveal future plans.

Company B Men May Be Among First to Benefit

The Milwaukee Journal reports that Company B of the 126th Infantry, part of the 32nd Division from Adrian Armory, could be among the first to receive benefits from a homecoming after 21 months in the South Pacific. The unit served in key operations including New Guinea and Buna, with casualties among its ranks, and returned to Australia for rest before Saidor.

Price Administration boosts point values for February ration list

The Office of Price Administration announced higher point values for beef, veal and lamb cuts, with two point increases for beef steaks and roasts and one point boosts for most other beef cuts. Pedestrians Hurt In Two City Car Collisions

Albert Filson of 627 West Maple Avenue, a 48 year old, suffered a broken right hip after being struck at the corner of West Maumee and South Winter Streets by a car driven by John R. Russell of 235 South McKenzie Street. Filson was taken to Bixby hospital for treatment. In a separate incident Clarence Harrington of 208 West Summit Street, 74, was treated and released after being hit on East Beecher Street by a car driven by Earl L. Brown of Route 2 Clayton. Harrington sustained lacerations to the back of the head.

The War Department notified Britton that Sgt Charles S Badura Jr was reported missing on December 1944 after a mission over Germany. House Near Hudson Destroyed by Fire

Hudson reports a house on the Thomas Hartley farm south of Catholic Hill burned yesterday afternoon, estimated loss six thousand dollars. Avengers Sink Seven Ships In Low Level Rabaul Raid

Advanced Allied fighters backed 15 Avenger torpedo bombers as they executed a low level glide bombing of Rabaul harbor, sinking four cargo ships and a tanker while damaging three more ships.
