Four Escapees Flee Hillsdale Jail
Hillsdale January 12 officers and state police searched for four prisoners who escaped yesterday from the 80 year old Hillsdale county jail by burrowing through a 20 inch wall. The men reportedly used an aluminum eating knife with a can opener to remove mortar and bricks in a dark area near steam pipes. Nine other inmates denied knowledge of the escape and had belongings stolen. Escaped were Frank Sutcliffe of Jackson serving four to five years for breaking and entering. Peter Dobos of Mt. Pleasant awaiting auto theft and parole violation trials. Kenneth Kelly of Hillsdale 17 for theft. Lynn Wells of North Adams serving 60 days for leaving the scene of an accident. Dobos had been paroled Oct 1 and recaptured 30 minutes after escape from another jail. Kelley previously escaped last November. The sheriff said the men likely fled in an automobile.

Services Set Today for Fire Victims Morin Children
Private funeral services were held for Frederick James Morin and Jacqueline Ann Morin of Sand Lake in Clinton. The siblings, ages five and three, died in a cottage fire Friday night. State Police found their bodies in the ruins, as parents worked nearby at the Sand Creek roller skating rink. Burial was at Clinton cemetery.
