Admiral Nimitz reports 2000 horsepower single engine planes in combat and describes the Corsair as a high altitude craft in the 400 mile an hour class. The aircraft, built by Vought Sikorsky for United Aircraft, outpaces upper level models and surpasses Japanese designs in the Pacific theater.
