Paralysis Victim Placed in Iron Lung in Tecumseh Area

Maynard Ingraham a 42 year old infantile paralysis patient from Tecumseh Route 1 has been placed in an iron lung after diaphragm paralysis was diagnosed. His wife and mother visited him at University Hospital Ann Arbor. Lenawee county reports its fifth poliomyelitis case of the year. Blissfield child shows arm paralysis but responds to treatment. other cases show no paralysis.

Lenawee Ayrshire Herd Wins Honors at Michigan State Show

The Lenawee county Ayrshire herd won first prize in the annual 4-H show at Michigan State College. Jane Peterson of Orleans exhibited the grand champion Ayrshire, Helen Brow Jr of Allen had the reserve, and Marion Goodluck of Clayton was on the winning dairy judging team with Paul Jones, Gene Post, and Ann Reisbig. Other breeds and judging sections were featured as the event continued.

Athens Aug 28 UP Generalissimo Alexander Papagos Greece’s hero of the 1941 Greek Italian campaign is increasingly named as likely to head a neutral coalition government to end a cabinet crisis now in its sixth day. Premier designate Constantin Tsaldaris met with leaders from Demetrios Maximos’s fallen cabinet to discuss forming a new coalition and appears to have abandoned his bid for a direct government.

Bank Robbers Still Held At Jail

Two Detroit men, Fred Bakus aged 20 of Ecorse and James Stuch aged 22 of Detroit, who robbed Addison State Savings Bank on August 9 and were captured after their car failed, pleaded guilty to armed robbery and were arraigned August 11 before Judge G Arthur Rathbun. Awaiting full reports from county probation officer H Ray Kemp on prior records, they remain held at the county jail with bonds of 35000 each unfurnished.

Real Estate Boards Indicted in Antitrust Probe

Washington Aug 22 Attorney General Clark announced a federal grand jury has indicted the National Association of Real Estate Boards and the Washington Real Estate Board on anti trust charges. Two Cars Collide at North Main Bridge

An accident on M-52 at the North Main Street bridge caused property damage to two cars. Almond S. Curtis and Emory E. Mallory collided after Curtis stopped to let traffic pass. Polio Victim Gives Birth to Baby Girl in Philadelphia

Mrs Estelle Breene almost paralyzed by poliomyelitis for two years gave birth to a daughter at Nazareth hospital in Philadelphia. Doctors said both Mrs Breene and the six pound fourteen ounce baby are doing nicely.

35 Dead In Norway Plane Crash

A Norwegian Sandringham flying boat crashed in the Lofoten mountains killing all 35 aboard. The craft carried 27 passengers and eight crew members en route from Tromsoe to Stavanger. The chief pilot Capt. Buer was a noted Norwegian aviator. The plane burned for hours after the crash. One American, Mrs Jess, was among the dead.

Landlord Sentenced Over Moon Turning Green Remark

Detroit, Aug. 28 VP) Three year old Joanne Muscat and her sisters, Lillian seven and Mary nine, remained in Receiving hospital after nicotine poisoning. Doctors say their mother, Amadeo Muscat, used nicotine potassium insecticide diluted with soap and water to treat a scalp infection, and the solution soaked through their scalps.
