Lenawee Women Finish 135 Mile Horseback Journey

Three Lenawee County women from Manitou Beach completed a 135 mile horseback trek to Grandville, traveling via Eaton Rapids and Charlotte after starting Tuesday at Clark Lake. They slept under the stars, bought hay from farmers, and plan to return the same route later this week. Reds Reject Joint Appeal For Petrov

London August 26 Russia refused US requests for consultation on Nikola Petkov’s death sentence in Bulgaria. Andrei Vishinsky said such talks would interfere in Bulgarian affairs. Sofia had rejected a US review demand earlier. Petkov, anti Communist leader, was sentenced to be hanged for conspiring against the Fatherland Front. A Bulgarian bill to dissolve the Agrarian Party, the main opposition, was introduced in Sofia parliament, aiming to abolish its youth group and deprive it of seats. passage was expected tomorrow.

Labor challenge May hamstrings Taft Hartley law guidance

Washington Aug 26 Officials of the National Labor Relations Board voiced private concern that a union challenge could delay applying the Taft Hartley Act to 3500 old NLRB cases. CIO unions weighed court action arguing the act only recently took full effect and major cases arose under the Wagner Act.
