County 4-H members won prizes at the State Fair in Oklahoma City. Exhibits by Bill Myers Galey with Yellow-Gold sweet potatoes Larry Mosely Galey with peas, and Mike Tiffin Vaness with perennial lespedeza forage earned first place. Thirty-six local clubbers entered 67 exhibits. other winners included Bill Myers combined millet Darrell Stonecipher Vanoss vetch seed Larry Horton Vanoss mung beans.

Fourth Annual Quarter Horse Sale Is Stated
The East Central Quarter Horse Association opens its fourth annual sale at 1 p.m. Saturday in Pontotoc County selling 57 horses in the auction ring. ECQHA president Quinn Hill of Ada notes 150 association horses were screened in July. only the top horses are offered as a cream of the crop sale.

Ada Sulphur teens reach National Merit semifinals
Ten area high school students advance to semifinal status in the National Merit Scholarship competition. Ada High School seniors Steve Knickmeyer and Ronald Ward, along with Elaine Gibbard of Sulphur, join Duane Menefee of Ada now at East Central State College and Herschel Rudolph Ramsey of Northeast High School in Oklahoma City as semifinalists. About 10,000 national semifinalists were chosen from over 15,000 high schools after qualifying tests. Semifinalists will take a second test December 2 in Ardmore. finalists and scholarships will be announced in April.
