Former Five Civilized Tribes official shoots Choctaw man
Victor Locke former superintendent of the Five Civilized Tribes at Muskogee was held in Pushmataha county jail after he admitted shooting Abner Battiste a full blood Choctaw. County attorney Louie Gossett said murder charges would be filed and arraignment would follow. Locke had gone to Battiste's home at Antlers last night and shot him at his front door killing him. Locke now a resident of Antlers since retirement six years ago is a lieutenant colonel in the army reserve.

Laying Gas Mains to Supply Sulphur
X L Bird of Community Gas Co told Sulphur Chamber that all mains will be finished in three weeks if local labor remains available and no accidents occur. Gas will travel via a 4 inch line from Wynnie wood, fifteen miles away, with a measuring plant set northwest of the city beyond its limits. Bird noted twenty one Oklahoma and Texas gas fields support a reliable service for Sulphur.
