Alligator Creates Stir With Students In Byng
The Caton family in Byng hosts a foot long caiman alligator named Albert from Doyle Lavon Caton in Arlington Virginia. Army Intelligence member, its arrival caused excitement in Byng High biology class and among local children. Albert feeds on raw meat and crayfish and has already bitten a finger. If he grows to seven feet in ten years the Catons plan to move him to a zoo or reptile farm rather than a pond.

A $105,000 seed and feed facility in Hughes County near Wetumka will be dedicated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with U S Senator J Howard Edmondson as principal speaker. The project is a joint venture of the Wetumka Industrial Foundation Farm Ranch Cooperative Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative and Area Redevelopment Agency financed by 68000 from ARA 21000 from Canadian Valley and 130 memberships at 100 each.

The Wetumka cooperative opens a new 8 acre mill boasting a 100 ton per day capacity and a fully automated grinding system. It features 64 tons of concentrates, 10 000 gallons molasses capacity, 40 000 outside storage, and truck hoist handling. Manager Gene Lyman leads the operation with a regional board headed by Riley Autry.

Five Pontotoc County 4 H Club members returned from an area meeting on personality improvement in Wewoka. Richard Bailey Allen won the $50 bond and other participants were Shirley Howell Martha Herion Marilyn Blansett and Brooks Palmer. Thirteen area meetings are planned with members from all 77 counties invited. The program by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company began in 1954 and offers top awards to leading youths. Each year two boys and two girls are named state winners and receive $200 bonds.
