Safe water program targets county farm wells this year

County Health Department data from 1953 54 shows 61 percent of Ada submitted wells tested unsafe after Oklahoma City lab results. HD clubs with Hume plan three phase effort education construction steps and testing to restore safe supply. Communities will be inspected and wells sealed with concrete coverings and 10 feet steel or concrete casing as needed.

Girl of Ten Is Taxpayer Jury Call

Jennifer D Enloe ten year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Enloe Route 5 Ada was summoned for jury service by Court Clerk Abe Holloway. The clerk learned she was below voting age and could not qualify, though he deemed her intelligent enough to serve once she reaches ten more years.

Teachers Meet Stonewall for Tri-County Masters Meet

A tri-county masters meeting is set for Stonewall on November 8 with participants from Coal Pontotoc and Garvin counties. The event gathers schoolmasters from three counties to discuss educational issues.

Community Chest Sponsors Ada Clinic Program

During the week starting November 1 the Ada Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Community Development Clinic with daily meetings of civic fraternal veterans labor and women's groups. Don Anderson of Oklahoma Gas and Electric will conduct the clinic as Ada residents propose ideas to improve living and business conditions.

Steed tells Farm Bureau farmers not to blame for high living costs

Congressmen Tom Steed told Pontotoc County Farm Bureau members that the high cost of living should be blamed on others, not farmers. He noted farms are the economic foundation of the United States and prosperity begins on the farm, citing parity and farm income effects.

County ACS Committee Named in Ada Convention

A new county ASC committee was named last Friday in Ada. The officials will take office November 1. Members include W W Gibson chairman Steedman Henry Little vice chairman and B B Ownbey member. J S Stanfield was replaced by Ownbey due to personal business. The group allocates acreage programs passes on practice applicants and handles conservation program payments under federal statute.
