Many Tribes Attend Big Indian Powwow in Lawrence
Lawrence Kansas October 27. At Haskell Institute a three day powwow opens with 500 Quapaws from Oklahoma led by Chief John Quapaw arriving by car. About 50 Indians registered this morning and tepee camps are going up south of the school. Tribes represented include Osages Cheyennes Canaches Arapahoes Winnebago Utes Creeks Pueblos and Navajos. Fred Campbell and 26 Blackfeet were due to arrive later.
