Oakman Homecoming Celebrates Seventh Year
Oakman Community Church hosted the seventh annual homecoming on Sunday October 19 with about 300 attendees. George Carter chaired the event noting fair weather for past and current gatherings. Activities included a basket lunch served by the Oakman Ladies Club and treats for children from Colbert's Dairy Ada. Dr. Jack Moore Ada spoke on Breaking Out of the Bondage of Sin. A business session re elected officers George Carter Jess Berryman and Mildred Current. Visitors from Oakman and Ada shared memories and remarks.

Mrs Douglas Smith writes the Ahloso community column and has served on the WEEKLY staff for about two years. She is vice president of the home demonstration club and active on county HD council committees, riding club secretary treasurer, and Christmas tree committee. Her main current activity is babysitting grandchildren. she and her husband, Latta High School graduates, have lived in Ahloso since 1944 and have four children.

Frisco Home Demonstration Club Finishes Clubhouse Work
Frisco women hold a work day at the community clubhouse with one bachelor present. Sid Marshall and several club members repair a partition, hang a kitchen door, and side the building while sharing a lighthearted moment after minor mishaps. A covered dish luncheon ends the day with plans to finish next Monday.

Vanoss Roff Lead Pontotoc County Land Judging Meet
Vanoss Future Farmers of America and Roff 4 H clubs topped divisions at the Pontotoc County land and range judging contest in Roff. Vanoss will represent the county at the national contest in Oklahoma City. The 4 H team will consist of the top four individuals Mike Lucas James Lucas Don Sliger and Floyd Burrow. The eight winning boys earn expense paid trips to the nationals with funding from Guy Shipe and Bob McCurley. The day included plant identification and soil judging on Lee Elliott Farm near Fitzhugh with lunch provided by Roff School.

Pontotoc County Blue River Conservancy District will meet at Fitzhugh School at 8 p.m. Monday Oct 27 to elect new area directors. Kenneth P. Sanders challenged his conviction for illegally holding a nonresident hunting license. A District Court jury found him guilty and he was fined 100 dollars and sentenced to two days in jail.

Fittstown Baptists Dedicate New Church Building
Fittstown Baptist Church dedicates its stone faced building on October 19 with Rev. Tom Parrish of Plainview delivering the sermon and Rev. L. E. Perrin of Ada recounting the church history. More than 300 attended, including former members and pastors Holt Sodeman and Jack Owens. The cornerstone inscription credits 1935 founding and 1958 building with Jesus Christ as chief cornerstone.

SCD Board Plans Purchase of Tree Killing Gadgets
