ASC Elects Members For Pontotoc County Committees

Twenty seven county farmers were elected from nine districts as ASC community committeemen for Pontotoc County. Election ran by mail Sept 22 to Oct 6. The chairman and vice chairman become delegate and alternate at the county convention to elect the county ASC committee. The county meeting is at 10 a.m. Oct 24 at the ASC office. Committees oversee programs including the Agricultural Conservation Program, Teed grain, Conservation Reserve, Wool, Sugar, and price and storage controls.

George Cornell, a Cherokee from Bebee, Nebraska, is renowned for speed in throwing, running, and fielding. Though near 70, he remains obsessed with baseball, playing through high school, semi pro leagues, and two major league seasons with the Cleveland Indians before WWI. He later wandered, chasing the sport across the country and even to India aboard a cattle boat.

Weekly Ada County Notes With Many Local Visits

The county newsletter lists numerous visits and kinfolk gatherings.
