Goose prospects bright for Oklahoma waterfowl season
Oklahoma hunters are greeted by rising goose numbers as reports from the Wildlife Conservation Department show 700 lesser Canadas at Great Salt Plains Refuge and about 100 blue, snow and Canada geese at Tort Gibson Refuge. Forage is abundant statewide as the goose season opens December 12, split with a first segment through November 16 and a second through January 7 1978, with federal rules on shotgun capacity and required duck stamps.

Forty Angus bulls averaged 3.39 pounds daily gain over 64 days, led by Lasley 4-L Corp. of Hydro with 3.70, and Bill Newport of Yukon and Dwight Ferguson of Woodward close behind. Regional Appaloosa champions from over 200 clubs qualify for the World Championship Appaloosa Halter and Performance Show at the Oklahoma State Fair Grounds. Halter classes debut, with the Appaloosa House Club Medallion system honoring excellence. Sixty eight medallions earned to date across racing, halter, performance and distance.
