Francis City Council Sets Water Vote on Oct 14
Francis residents vote Tuesday October 14 on bonds to fund a new water supply. The council may drill new wells and buy electric pumping gear after health concerns over the Frisco and Canadian River wells. No fixed amount is set. if approved, the council will determine the needed funding. Voting is at city hall.

Three Fitistown Youths Injured In Car Crash
Three Fitistown youths Raymond Darby 19 Dale Howry 17 and Tommy Davis 17 were injured in a one car crash on State Highway 99 a mile north of Fittstown Saturday night. Howry suffered a spinal injury Davis fractured arm and Darby severe bruising. All were hospitalized with injuries not considered life threatening though full extent was not yet known.

Dale Howry a member of the armed forces was hurt in a Saturday car accident near Fittstown. He was flown by helicopter Thursday morning to the Army hospital at Fort Sill for medical treatment.

Robert Cope 84 dies. rites held in Ada church
Robert Lee Cope married to Cora Howard, dies at a local rest home at 84. Services were Monday at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Lavona Brown and Franklin Farmer leading. Born January 14 1874 in Sparta Tennessee he and Cora moved from Ada to Indian Territory then Lazy D Ranch. Survivors include his wife two daughters a son nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Digging for Dollars Ada Sand Firm Grows Fast
Barney Philpot founder of Grade A Sand and Gravel Co. on Latta road built a 50 man operation from a one man start. The Ada area outfit now runs 18 material types with a $30,000 expansion to 24, leases about 3,000 acres of pits and plans a railroad spur. The business serves Ada by pass and North Broadway projects with materials for cement plants and pre stressed pipe while eyeing future growth and shared royalties with landowners.

Ada Livestock Auction Inc. sold 2 300 head of cattle in a stocker feeder sale totaling about 360 000 dollars. Buyers came from Oklahoma Texas Nebraska Kansas and California with a peak set by Angus stockers at 37 90 per 100 pounds. The Friday sale ran from noon to 8 p m and 4 500 cattle moved through Ada that week including Saturday shipments.
