Coronation Scene at Lawrence Pie Supper Raises $477

Lawrence held a large annual pie supper on November 17 with near total family participation. The event raised 477 dollars and 14 cents for community Christmas programs, as every family contributed pies or money.

Pecan Crop In County Estimated At Million Pounds

Achievement Program Set For HD Clubs

Pontotoc County Home Demonstration Achievement program slated for 1 30 p m Friday December 2 at the First Baptist Church in Ada. Club women organize the event and will honor outstanding members 100 percent attendance and the county secretary and reporter. Officers of the County Home Demonstration Council to be installed. Wanda Young and Carrel Bryant Named State 4-H Delegates

Wanda Young of Fitzhugh and Carrel Bryant of Byng were chosen as county delegates to the Oklahoma 4-H Club Congress held in Oklahoma City from Thursday to Saturday November 24 26.

County Health Nurse to Hold Clinic at Roff

County health nurse Mrs. Paralee Hisle announces a health conference and clinic at the Roff clubhouse on December 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The event, sponsored by the home demonstration club and other agencies, offers immunizations dental checks vision tests and more. The clinic is open to children and adults and aims to direct cases to available help. This starts a monthly series every first Thursday with a Thanksgiving dinner state cap itol tour theater party and send off for delegates to Chicago.

Dies of Stroke Ends Long County Career in Ada

Aubrey J. Crain a long time county resident died in an Ada hospital Friday morning after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held Monday at First Methodist Church with burial in Rosedale cemetery. He was born in Paris Texas and moved to Roff in 1902 at age 17. He worked for an uncle Tom Suddath, then in a Roff bank for 13 years, ran a grocery there for 13 years, later moved to Ada and ran a grocery until a stroke forced retirement. He married Alice Sharrock in Jesse in 1912. Surviving are his wife a daughter Rebecca Sue Harmon Denver Colo a son Seth Montclair N J Max Levittown Pa Wendell Washington DC eight grandchildren and sisters Mrs Ed Russell and Miss Winnie Crain Amarillo Texas.
