County Attorney O P Moore called the killings an expression of the will of the people after Ernest Collins 15 and Benny Mitchell 16 were hanged by about 700 residents, including women, for the murder and assault of Miss Geraldine Kollmann. The youths were seized at the Colorado bridge near Altair and hanged beneath a live oak tree. The victims were transported from Houston for juvenile court proceedings before the mob killed them.

Eight children jumped from second story windows to escape and were treated at Chesapeake and Ohio hospital for broken bones and injuries. Three Ada Black people arrested after fast chase
A 69 mile per hour chase from near Stonewall ended in the 200 block of North Mississippi avenue. Three Ada Black residents of Little Harlem were jailed in federal custody on internal revenue charges after pleading guilty to illegal possession and transport of moonshine. Deputy U S marshal Stanfield and Ada police halted the fleeing car. Henry and Ida Garrett of Coal county were later arrested at a Lehigh area farm.
