In Pontotoc County the county weighers race sees W. L. Knickmeyer defeating Ernest O. Thompson by about 5,000 votes. Thompson contemplates a recount, calling the result unfair and saying he will consider filing. Knickmeyer dismissed Thompson’s challenge with a sharp remark.
Mrs Pansy Youree Gibson, dies at home after heart ailment. Funeral held at Bells Methodist Church with Rev J B Hibbard and Rev William Collins officiating. Interment Sunny Side Cemetery Savoy Texas. Survived by Harrie Gibson husband Anna Jean Johnson El Paso Charles Gibson California, six grandchildren, sister Davie Harrison Los Angeles, brothers Henry Youree Bonham Jess Youree Bells.

Ada and Pontotoc County swung heavily Democratic on Tuesday giving Johnson a 3,000 vote lead over Goldwater and Harris overcoming Wilkinson in the U S Senate race. Miller won the state senate race with 8 613 votes to 2 523. Knickmeyer swept all 40 precincts for county weigher.
The Tenth Annual Murray College Beef Performance Test opened with 145 bulls weighed in on October 12 13 from Oklahoma Texas Kansas and New Mexico. Breeds include Herefords Polled Herefords Angus Red Angus Charolais Charbray Brangus Santa Gertrudis Milking Shorthorn and Beefmaster. Weighings occur every 28 days with the first on November 10 1964. Top performers may sell March 20 1965 at the annual performance tested bull sale.
Winners were Mrs. Lois Clifford of Tupelo and Mark McCarty of Stonewall with equal prize money after a tie. The page lists leaves cottonwood willow persimmon. Oklahoma dairy herds show fewer milk cows with 200 000 head in June down from 215 000 a year earlier and a 5 year average of 263 000. Third quarter 1964 milk output fell 4 percent from a year earlier though per cow output rose 2 percent. Nationally, US third quarter production reached 30.6 billion pounds while June cow numbers totaled 16 072 000, a 3 percent drop from last year with the South Central region hardest hit.
President Lyndon Johnson carries Oklahoma by 105000 votes for 55 percent of more than 915000 ballots. Senator Fred Harris defeats Bud Wilkinson by about 2000 votes for 51 percent of about 913000 votes. Democrats win five to one in Congress with Albert Edmondson Jarman Johnson Johnson Steed and Belcher. All seven state questions fail. Democrats expand control of the legislature as Republicans win 7 of 48 Senate seats and 21 of 99 House seats.
County commissioners set a November 17 sale date for 490000 in road bonds approved in the October 13 election. They also signed underwriter agreements with the State Department of Highways for the Sandy Creek bridge alignment and right of way purchases to stay within appraisals.
