US First Cavalry fails to break siege in northwest Korea
U S First Cavalry division abandoned attempts to rescue a regiment surrounded by Chinese Reds near Unsan. Ada businessman W L Cunningham dies at 84
W L Cunningham longtime Ada merchant died at a local hospital late Wednesday. He founded the Cunningham Furniture Store in Ada in 1925 and led it until 1945 when he retired to his sons Ewart and Bill Cunningham. Born September 25 1866 in Victoria Texas he earlier worked as a printer and editor in Palis Valley. He married Lella Myrtle Bill in 1898 and is survived by four children and four grandchildren. Burial is at Memorial Park after a funeral at Criswell Chapel.

Two Youths Go To Court In Juvenile Delinquent Case
