Oklahoma farmers rejected the Kennedy administration price support plan by 25,845 against to 17,656 in 77 counties, with only eight counties giving two thirds or better majorities. Nationally, 596,943 opposed to 547,151 favored the measure. The vote signals strong open market preference as farmers aim to stabilize prices without federal controls.
Oklahoma safety commissioner Bob Lester says boat trailers on state roads follow a 50 mph limit for all roads except four-lane interstate highways where cars towing boats may drive 70 mph. He adds boat trailers must have two clearly visible red taillights at the rear.

Representatives of Oklahoma's 360 million beef cattle industry gather in McAlester for a two day Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association quarterly meeting June 6 and 7. Allen voters rejected a 100000 bond for a new school cafeteria band and agriculture building. The vote was 249 for and 218 against, 32 votes short of the required 60 percent. First submitted in November 1961, the measure previously failed 117 to 179. Superintendent C G Weavey said a third submission is unlikely.
