Count von Brockdorf Rantzau head of the German peace delegation asks for more time to present Germanys reply to the peace terms. He says further notes are prepared and completion by 1 PM Thursday is unlikely. Havas Agency notes the extension is expected to be granted.
Ada schools face funding uncertainty as Supt. J E Hickman reports no teachers elected for next year and tax rate decision pending after Thursday election. Without tax funds the district may run only four and a half months. high school faculty and ward schools await full appointments.
The second week of September 1917 marked the start of the high school cadets corps at the local high school. Captain Wade Stevens reorganized the company this year and the program was adopted as a special elective under the Wyoming plan, earning credit and recognition by colleges. The aim is to expand enrollment and elevate the program to align with leading schools nationwide, emphasizing moral and physical training.
Brest May 20 steamers Rotterdam Finland Mobile and New Jersey depart for the United States carrying over 20 000 troops. This completes the embarkation of the 80th Division and begins that of the 86th Division composed of Texas and Oklahoma troops.
Frederick P. Raynham's Martinsyde biplane skeleton was set up in a St Johns repair shop to be reassembled. Captain C F F Morgan said he would not fly with Raynham until recovery but would seek a new plane to pursue an independent flight for the British Isles. Airmen note no news from Hawker after the craft left.
The Ada YWCA monthly meeting featured Mrs. C. V. Dunn outlining heathen needs and church activities. Miss Abbie Kitchens was elected president for the coming year, with Clarice Cartwright and Carrie Roach named delegates to the Hollister Missouri conference June 17 to 27.
A San Diego clock displays time for all world regions with twenty dials showing days and dates. The 21 foot high master clock is housed in glass, illuminated at night, and jewel encrusted with tourmaline topaz agate and jade. It wound by a 200 pound weight and runs automatically after fifteen months of construction.
Mr and Mrs L J Milburn of Oklahoma City are guests of his brother Walter Milburn who lies in a hospital following burns from a gas explosion near Allen several days ago.
Mr and Mrs J Roy Williams pass Ada on route to the Editorial Association at Medicine Park. Editor Williams has disposed of his stake in the McAlester News Capital and plans a rest before resuming editing duties.
The Ada public school board awarded the contract for the new ward school building to J. J. Rooney of Muskogee for 39367 dollars, the lowest bid among four. The project includes a gymnasium and aims to relieve overcrowding as Ada plans further bonds to fund additional facilities.
Large turnout at Ada Sunday schools marks the last day of the Go To Sunday School drive. Officials note interest rising and expect numbers to grow beyond current totals at churches including Broadway Christian and Church of Christ as the drive ends.
Paris May 21 Premier Clemenceau replying to a German note on reparations declares it too late to deny aggression. He notes Germany did not protest being labeled aggressor by Lansing, and says Germany previously made France responsible for imperial acts in 1871 despite regime change.

John Lang, fifty three, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, is described as having an exceptional war record. He served on five fronts France Palestine Saloniki Bulgaria and Italy and witnessed the fall of Jerusalem. He remained unwounded throughout the war and later served in Constantinople after the armistice.
Rev and Mrs C C Morris returned Tuesday from Atlanta where nearly 5 000 delegates and 5 000 visitors attended the Southern Baptist Convention. The Inter-Church movement was rejected. A seventy five million dollar five year campaign was unveiled, with predictions of similar North American effort doubling totals. Morris will speak next Sunday at First Baptist Church detailing his convention experience.
Mrs Dan Hays on the city edge reports to the News as a mustard champion. She brought in mustard with leaves two feet long and a foot and a half wide and Bermuda onions six to eight inches in circumference unusually large for the season.
The Woodmen of the World in Ada will observe Memorial Day with a Sunday afternoon ceremony at Rosedale Cemetery. Monuments for several deceased Ada Camp members will be unveiled, featuring an address by Hon. A. N. Leecraft state treasurer and Head Consul of Oklahoma.

The American seaplane NC-4 will not start for Lisbon from Panama Del Gada today due to a failing engine. The NC-1 sank after towing to the harbor entrance and the NC-3, badly damaged, is being dismantled for shipment home. if NC-4 reaches Lisbon the next leg will head to Plymouth, England.
