Old Appliance Causes Fire In Ada Home
An old unused appliance sparked a house fire at 102 East Park Drive Ada Saturday. Randy Parker, four, attempted to plug in the device found while cleaning the carport and shouted that it shocked him. Mrs Parker saw the fire start as fire units battled a near inferno reaching the attic. The Mas ter bedroom and rear sections suffered extensive smoke and water damage.

Allen Band Wins 1st At Coalgate Settlers Day
Allen High School captured first place at Coalgate Old Settlers reunion activities in Pontotoc County. The three day event concluded Saturday with Allen earning 25 dollars plus a 10 dollar award for the trip. Atoka High School placed second. The Boy Scouts won first prize for their truck float showing tents and paraphernalia, earning 25 dollars. Cubs Scouts from the county took second with 15 dollars.
