Stonewall Day set for May 26 at Sportsmen's Lake
Stonewall and nearby communities plan the second annual Stonewall Day to be held May 26 at the Stonewall Sportsmen's Lake. The event features a noon to 1 pm basket lunch, then open visiting time plus a drinks service by the Frisco Home Demonstration Club. Stonewall residents and former residents from Stonewall Lula Owl Creek Jesse Tupelo Fittstown Byrds Mill Harden City Olney Union Valley and other nearby communities are invited. Mrs. Anna Young serves as secretary of the organizing group and reports inquiries from as far as California and a Texas family who left Stonewall 40 years ago. The Stonewall Sportsmen’s Club provides the lake grounds and improvements. tentative entertainment plans are being discussed. Charles W. Zorn Dies Monday Pioneer Countian
Charles Warren Zorn 82 a longtime Ross Ada seed dealer died Monday afternoon at his Ada home. Services were held Wednesday at Rosedale cemetery. He married Tva J Merlintock December 22 1902 in Roff and operated a nursery in Roff before moving to Ada in 1918. He led Ada Seed Company for 30 years until retiring for health reasons. Survived by wife a daughter Mrs Sam Wien zick Enid sisters Mrs Lillie B Tyler Mrs Peart Shamburger Tyler brothers John and Will Tyler and five grandchildren and five great grandchildren Enid connections cited.

Kids Derby Opens Roff Lake Fishing
The new Roff Lake opened for fishing with a Kids Derby on Saturday May 11 drawing over 60 youths under 16. Officials say the lake covers about eight acres, with improvements including picnic tables electricity shrubs and stocked fish including bass up to four pounds. Construction is noted to have progressed with local effort led by the Rolf Sportsmen's Club and Roft residents.

John Qualls Family Tops Farm Group of Month
The John Qualls family of Summers Chapel was chosen May Farm Family of the Month and received the Ada Chamber of Commerce award for outstanding farm and community service. Presented during the Pontotoc County Poultry Tour on Friday May 10, the award highlighted the Qualls roadside stand selling graded eggs and truck crops at the highway 13 and 61 intersection. Their 1,050 White Leghorns yield just over 43 percent, with economically built laying houses, ample nests and feeders, and automatic waterers.

Red Cross Sets Summer Swim Program Launch
The Red Cross announces a summer swim program starting June 17 for all ages. Enrollment is at Ada, 210 South Broadway, through May 24. Three three week sessions run at Glenwood School June 17 to July 5 and July 5 to July 28, with a third session at the North Side pool once construction completes.

Mass Polio Shots Planned for Ages 20 40 County
Mass polio inoculations are planned for Saturday May 18 in the county under the county medical association. The program aims to administer the Salk vaccine to adults aged 20 to 40 at a fee that covers only the vaccine cost.
