A strong wind Wednesday night damaged trees poles and some buildings east of Ada but the wind caused far less damage than Monday morning's hard rain. The report notes no major structural failures and no injuries.
Graduates listed include Ada high school seniors Bill Bradford Lamar Hudson Flora Mae Ray Berlin Mallory Earl Love Aubrey Taylor Betty Mapp and Gene Jo Thompson. East Central State College hosts the baccalaureate with Dr C F Spencer delivering the address. Ross high school class begins tonight at 8 in the gym. City damage from heavy rains estimated at 20000 with erosion issues and sewers affected. In Woodward heavy winds follow a deadly April tornado, with roofs damaged and debris scattered. Oklahoma City experiences a 74 mph wind and power line damage, plus planes damaged at the municipal airport.
Oklahoma City May 15 The Legislative Council plans to convene in September to draft a program for the 1949 twenty second Oklahoma legislature. The council will study permanent school financing highway funding the 1907 constitution and prison reform with three joint committees aiding the effort.
The Salvation Army building fund drive shows a goal of 15000.00 with 10025.53 collected and 4979.47 still needed as of Thursday morning. In Hugo Oklahoma on May 15 a man identified as LeRoy Burton of Mt. Vernon Texas died when his car struck a bridge support and plunged into the Red River south of Hugo.

City plans its annual DDT spraying in all alleys and fly breeding sites starting June 9. Oklahoma City May 15 Gov Beauford Jester of Texas unsure which dinner to address May 24. He asked Gov Roy J Turner whether to eulogize Andrew Jackson or Thomas Jefferson. Turner replied the event will be Jefferson Day, though it was originally titled Jackson Day and renamed to fit Jefferson's birthday.
A deer, named Bambi by Fort Sill veterinary staff, wandered into the facility and damaged its leg after an automobile fractured a front leg. Staff Sgt M R Siders was kicked in the shin after the deer recovered from anesthesia and the leg was splinted.
Congress moved a 400 million dollar program to bolster Greece and Turkey against communism. The House and Senate approved differing versions, with a wartime relief bill to aid six European and Asian nations under consideration. President Truman urged swift action on a 350 million dollar relief package in a UNRA quarterly report.
