A Mississippi boy in the Philippines sends a satirical portrait of the islands. He mocks the geography and dangers from typhoons to earthquakes and cannons, notes bamboo houses and rice diets, and jokes about water buffalo travel. He ends by saying it is a good place to stay away from.
At the M E Church on May 26 at 8 p m a W C T U elocution contest will feature readings and songs by noted musicians. Contestants include Alene Siutnds Asoak in Wum Barweils Modens Carney Ruth Saylor Grince Native Hassie Collins Mittie Barringer Mable Robb Bewla Lynn. A silver medal will be awarded to the winner marking the fifth such medal in Ada with a future gold medal contest hoped. Admission free. press superintendent.
Secretary of the Interior E A Hitchcock and party arrived in Ada by special train at 3 30 pm Saturday to a crowd of about 2000. He toured the town with interest, praised Ada and its citizens, then continued south to Ardmore after an hour of civic reception hosted by the Commercial Club.
Lewis Lantz was convicted of manslaughter after a trial at Tishomingo last week. He received a 10 year sentence in the penitentiary and a $50 fine for criminal negligence linked to the death of his stepdaughter due to lack of medical care.
A blistering, satirical note about Fredrica De Borndl once linked to Fred’s Guaranty stogy, refused payment of 2.25 dollars to the News. The writer mocks the debtor and cheers his departure, calling the item rubbish and ridiculing the draftsmen involved.

Davis resident Helen started a survey last Saturday for a water works system. The plan calls for bringing water five miles via pipes from the Ar iackle Mountains to serve the community, aiming to become one of Indian Territory’s best water systems.
The 8 Y P U met Sunday with E G Price as leader. Opening exercises included a lesson reading and personal experiences. Services at 4 p m led by C Weaver with Price as secretary. Local note: Madill boys played Roff, losing 11 to 13. J M P Connor 49 and Miss Mary Long 24 wed at Baptist church last Monday.
Dr. Warerfield of Holdenville was in the city yesterday conducting business and expressed pleasure with the town.
Mr M W Van Valkenburg state agent of the Liverpool London Globe Insurance Co and president of the Western Underwriters Association was found injured after falling from a moving train near Fitzhugh Monday night. He was taken to Ada Tuesday morning for skilled surgical care of facial injuries and bruising.
