Brantleys Recall Their Beloved Dog Peanuts

Mrs Wesley Brantley writes about losing their dog Peanuts a few years after adopting him. The dog was friendly with children and train crews, shared candy bars with Phyllis, guarded mail and school bus times, and often watched from the window wearing his favorite TV tan.

Reeves Plans Open House For Feedlot Near Ada

Everett Reeves invites the public to a May 20 open house at his large new feedlot two miles south of the Ada area, near the Ahloso Y on SEH 99. The event runs from 10 am to 4 pm with corn fed beef barbecue, cold cuts, and soft drinks. Attendees can tour the operations and observe the maze of feeding pens, runways, and gate systems.

Fittstown Cattle Unit Aims Year Round Pasture Dream

Ned Biffle leads the Fittstown unit in a first drill and outlines a plan for year round pasture. He clears brush to extend 18 acres of fescue and ladino, sprays 300 and 290 acres in two years with 60 percent success, grass stays green through winter, cows feed directly on pasture and hay is reduced.
