They Paid Up, Charge Dismissed
A county court charge of malicious mischief against Hallie Ray Anderson and Dean Marshall of Stonewall was dismissed Friday on payment of court costs and property damage. The two were charged with wrecking a picnic table and a barbecue pit at the Stonewall Sportsmen's Club park.

Two Local Watersheds Get Boost
The State Soil Conservation Board approved planning for the next year on two local watershed projects Blue River and Leader Creek-Middle Clear Boggy boosting the Clear Boggy landowners who feared being left with the burden. The Boggy district was divided into two, with planning already underway on Upper Clear Boggy. The middle group awaits the board's priority decision while Sandy Creek continues with detailed site surveys and easement campaigns. Final construction plans for the first sites are set for Argus. The Upper Muddy Boggy area covering about 750000 acres across five counties has applied for planning assistance in Area No. 1 Pototoc and Coal Counties.

The Ada Shetland Pony Sale on Highway 13 north of Asa Hutchinson's spread sold 430 ponies for 457120 with 274 registered animals bringing 380100 and 156 grades 75495. Hutchinson’s 11 year old mare Fahey Nancy sold for 1600 to Ralph Brewer. top grade record held by four mares sold for 6040 to Bob Gartner. About 110 buyers participated. The sale facility, dubbed the pony palace, designed for 600 ponies, includes sheds, a snack bar and lounge. Next sale set for June 30 to July 4 with another in November.

Gas Line Breaks Near Ada Triggers Caution
A gas line break on the Boris Jackson property west of Ada prompted residents to detour and monitor cigarette use for a couple of hours. The break, caused by a tractor mowing weeds in a ditch, involved a surface line from the Center field to the Ada cement plant owned by Summit Service Co. Gas was shut off about one to two hours after the incident with no fires or explosions but some nervousness among nearby residents.

Burglar Breaks Into Galey School Steals Cheese and Cash
