Farms with no wheat seeded for grain in 1953 1954 or 1955 may apply for a 1956 acreage allotment. Applications must be written to the county ASC Committee by June 30 1955. Blank forms are available at the county ASC office.
J D Underhill a high school trained educator teaches in a two teacher Summers Chapel elementary school with 4 pupils. His wife Mrs J D Underhill also teaches and the pair cite collaboration as a factor in their career choices. Both are East Central graduates with 23 and 22 years experience. They have taught in Coal Seminole Washington and Osage Counties and call Pontotoc County home hoping to stay.
Eighth graders and high school seniors across the county prepare for graduation. Banquets and roasts mark the season as valedictorians and salutatorians finalize programs. The piece reflects pride and fear as students move toward adulthood and new academic paths.
The annual Home Grounds tour for counties in southeastern Oklahoma will be held Wednesday May 11 in Coal County. Participants depart from Coalgate post office at 9 30 a m and Pontotoc County residents meet at the court house by 8 15. J C Garrett extension landscaping specialist from Oklahoma A and M College will accompany and comment on sites visited. Miss Martha Mote urges early notice of plans to join.
Pontotoc County 4H pasture and range judging team finished third in the nation at the Oklahoma City contest. Members Darrel Bryant David Calvert Michael Lucas and Robert Hester earned a $30 prize and a ribbon. It was the event's first year and will be annual.

County Agent C. H. Hailey released test results from Dick Stroud ranch near Roff where 38 foreign agriculturalists in a five week training program observed the study. Treatments included 0-20-0 superphosphate, broadcast superphosphate, 10-20-10, and ammonium nitrate with varying gains in hay yield per acre.
