The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association backs HR 975 to amend the beef import law. Ladd Hitcher of Guymon, association president, notes the bill shifts quota baselines to a 1958–1983 period, lowers allowed tonnage by about 20 percent, and counts U S military purchases abroad against the quota. Sears Promoted To Asst Chief Of Ada Police
Ted Sears a 46 year old Ada police veteran of 14 years was named assistant chief by City Manager J B Davidson. Davidson also promoted Detective Lt Doyie Crawford to captain and Sat Don Henderson to lieutenant, replacing Lester Hokit who became chief after Homer Gosnail retired. Sears joined the force in 1952 and is an Allen High School graduate who served in Italy in World War I. He attended Northwestern traffic school and has led the traffic division. Crawford, 27, remains in charge of the detective division and has seven years on the force.
