The Miss Ada Pageant tightens toward a Friday 8 p.m. final at East Central State College auditorium with pre events including a Jaycees Style Show at 2 p.m. and a 5 p.m. judges’ meet. May Named Auto Inspection Month in Oklahoma
Governor Henry Bellmont proclaims May as Vehicle Inspection Month in Oklahoma. The highway patrol and 25 communities will inspect vehicles for defects that could cause accidents, issuing passing stickers to compliant cars. Angus Stockmen Increase in First Half of Fiscal Year
Frank Richards, secretary of the American Angus Association at St. Joseph Missouri, reports national registrations for the first six months of the 1969 fiscal year reached 176 950 head, up more than 10 percent from 1962 totals. Transfers of ownership rose 7.9 percent to 146 403 head. The market sees growth in new herd formations with about 400 cattlemen per month joining in the period.

Joe Moon of Allen High School north of the city earned the Ada Farm and Ranch Club Award for outstanding agricultural performance. The first award includes a plaque and 25 cash. He led FFA activities, served as chapter president, and participated in farm shop and land judging teams. He was a state FFA delegate, district leadership attendee, senior class president, and high honor society vice president. He is salutatorian with swine and beef cattle projects valued at 851.73 in labor income and a 22 head herd. He lettered four years in baseball football track and basketball and made all conference in basketball.

James Monroe Wiles known as Uncle Jim, 95, visited Fittstown to recount his logging life before 1900. He recalled hauling lumber with Smoky and Dock, riding with a grub box, carrying a rifle and a .44 pistol, and facing snakes and wolves. He now lives in Stuart and expects to reach a century.
