In Fittstown a yearly spring clash at rancher Frank Vincent’s hides a captured five rattlesnakes. The apex prisoner, “Big Boy,” is a six foot diamondback with a lethal bite. Frank has killed twelve others and vows to continue the campaign against the reptiles.
The Wigwam booster issue from Francis dated February 3 1910 highlights Francis Oklahoma origins. It notes population growth from 250 in 1904 to about 1350 by 1910 and plans for a railroad and manufacturing city with assets like asphalt soft water and good schools. It also lists needed improvements including city hall ice factory gas water works and an opera house.
In Frisco, Miss Jim Marshall reports a stray striper roaming the yard with several hens in pursuit. A skunk retreated to the storm cellar as two hams and smoked meat hung nearby. The animal left without causing damage and Mrs Marshall quickly secured the cellar.
The Pon totoc County ASC Chair Guy Pegg notes that wool and unshorn lambs marketed by March 31 1959 are eligible for 1958 program payments to be issued this summer. Applications for payment must be filed by April 30 1959 at county ASC offices with sales documents.
Tuesday's school vote showed county patrons backing levy increases and reelecting incumbents. Byng approved 5 mill emergency and 5 mill building levies. Roff backed 5 mill building and emergency levies. McLish and Ed Blankenship ran unopposed. several board incumbents were re elected with wide margins.
A county 4-H Share the Fun contest will be held Friday March 27 at 7 30 p m in the Allen auditorium. Top acts advance to the district contest April 1 in Stillanter. Admission is 15 cents for grade school 25 cents for high school and 35 cents for adults. Proceeds go to the Pontotoc County 4H Federation.
More than 1000 pigs have been consigned for the spring feeder pig sale sponsored by the Pontotoc Coal County Livestock Association on May 8. total consignments expected to reach 1200. county agent C H Hailey notes the plans discussed at a district court room meeting.
A community sing at Pleasant Hill Church, southeast of Jesse, will be held Friday night, March 27, inviting local residents to join in song and fellowship.

Mr and Mrs Frank Dryden and Miss Ruby Dryden visit Judd Horton and Lawrence Reed in Valley View Hospital Saturday. Horton and Reed are former residents. Reed is a brother of Mrs Lee Farmer. They are hoped to be well soon and discharged.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Law visited his aunt Mrs. Lula Law of Pauli Valley recently and also called on friends in Paoli delighting family members with the warm trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Troy Miller were visiting Oklahoma City over the weekend, enjoying local sights and dining out. The brief note records their weekend trip and leisure focus.

Mr. and Mrs. Harlen Bishop of San Jose California traveled to visit Mrs. Mary Cox and Mrs. Thelma Henderson and their families. On Friday the trio visited their aunt Mrs. Lottie Liles in Okemah and spent time with relatives during the trip.

Funeral services for Jim Turner 49 were conducted Saturday afternoon at Fittstown Baptist Church with Rev. John R. Walker officiating. Burial followed at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada. Criswell Funeral Home handled arrangements. Survivors include his wife Grace and three sons Dwight and others.
The Rev. Mack Caffey of First Baptist conducts a weeklong revival at Red Oak Baptist for the Rev. B. J. Garrett with Mr. Folger of Ada supplying the pulpit for the Bro. event.
A boys 12 and under league dubbed The Little Leaguers is forming with recruitment of teams and coaches under way. Stonewall High alumnus Lucien Roan coaches the Stonewall boys, who won their first practice game 7 to 2 over First on Sunday afternoon at the high school diamond.
Cecil Williams of San Jose arrives to spend the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bynum and will assist his uncle Frank in the garage. Bynum has added a new metalworking lathe to improve service for customers.
Monday night last week Mrs O'Dell Underhill held a lady in waiting shower for Mrs Monroe Hodge at Mrs Dick Truitt's home. A lace cloth table displayed jonquils and candles as gifts were arranged. Ice cream and cake featuring storks and baby carriages were served to Mesdames Vergie Rogers Geneva Gregory Lora Lee Braun Rod Edwards and Vesta.
