A dangerous ice craft reaches 70 miles per hour before overturning while two men escape injury. A hand brake digs into the ice to stop the craft as an Iowa University group poses with another ice flyer. Built in university shops from five junked Fords frames and powered by an old Gnome airplane motor, the ship sails the frozen Iowa river.
Bob Bell 25 is killed and A D Clark of Tulsa shot in a porch to street gun battle in Gilmore City Pontotoc county oil town. Clark survives five bullet wounds and is hospitalized after the fracas that erupted over a quarrel outside Chick's Place. Sheriff Al Nabors and Deputy Walter Ford investigate. Bell had testified before the Pontotoc county grand jury amid ties to illicit vice protection in Allen.
Three major oil companies reporting from the Allen field combined to produce 4633 barrels on Friday. Louisiana Oil and Refining Corp led with 2293 barrels, followed by Westheimer & Daube, and Texas-Pacific with multiple wells in 29-5-8 and 16-5-8 as drilling and underreaming continue at various depths.
Ouster charges against Wes Croy Love county attorney and James C. Mathers a young county judge were filed by the attorney general over an alleged appropriation of about 5600 of nearly 10000 stolen from Love County National Bank during a January 25 robbery. The pair had been acquitted at the preliminary hearing in Bomar before Justice O A McCage.

Mrs. C. W. Whiznant, 35, lured by the Brownwood Bulletin leap year offer to pay for the license and provide a $5 bill to the preacher, asked J. W. Peacock, 50, of Stonewall county to marry her. He accepted, they bought the license with her money, and plan to wed this afternoon.

Fred I F Brydia chairman of the Pontotoc County Democratic Central Committee directs precinct chairmen to summon Democrats to March 27 at 2 PM except Ada where meetings start 8 PM for electing delegates to the county convention on March 31 at 2 PM in the Ada courthouse. The convention will send 22 delegates to the state convention in Oklahoma City April 10 to choose national delegates. A list shows each precincts share of delegates.

Three people sought on bench warrants issued by District Judge Jes J Worren were located today county officials said Katherine Cole Morrison is jailed in Pawhuska Joe Alvarado is under arrest in Tulsa and Homer E Pennequine is en route in custody of Okmulgee County sheriff Commitments include penitentiary terms Morrison faces one year and 200 dollar fine for drunken driving Alvarado sentenced seven years for burglary and Pennequine five years for manslaughter Both Alvarado and Pennequine had stayed executions pending action.

Oklahoma City March 3. State highway engineer Clark R. Mandigo announced a March 20 bid date for 11 paving projects totaling about 83 miles plus seven bridge repairs and one grading project. A second letting about a month later will cover roughly 130 miles of grading and drainage with a total first-set cost near 2 million dollars and a second around 1 million. Projects include Seminole county paving from Seminole to Wewoka on State Highway 3 and Comanche county concrete from Lawton east to the Stephens county line on State Highway 29.
In Ardmore Carter county commissioners accepted Sheriff Ewing C London’s withdrawal of resignation. Oklahoma City state officials planned ouster proceedings against London, who faced misconduct accusations after an investigation by the attorney general and his appointee Elmer Fulton. The board then named Frank N Smith as London’s successor.
Northwestern Oklahoma dominated the Southwest American Livestock Show activities in Oklahoma City on March 6. The Alfalfa county 4-H livestock judging team won first among 16 to 21 year olds with 1 981 points, followed by Woods county in second and Garfield county in third. Individual judging honors went to Elgin Page with Aubrey Conner and Merle Custer placing second and third. The northwest district oversaw the day’s program.

The American monoplane Columbia carrying Charles A. Levine Wilmer A. Stultz and Miss Mabel Bell arrived in Havana from New York at 1 32 pm. The flight started from Mitchel Field at 1136 pm and followed a coast line route to Cuba with plans to land back in New York Sunday afternoon. Miss Bell known as the queen of diamonds traveled with coats suitcases and coffee in the craft.

Offices in Oklahoma City Enid and Muskogee report varied applicant numbers including 1 195 unskilled in OKC and 615 unskilled in Muskogee. Five hundred women applied for work across offices.
Velma West aged 21 pleaded guilty to second degree murder for the death of her husband Thomas Edward West in Painesville Ohio. Judge J D Barnes accepted the plea and sentenced her to life imprisonment at Maryville reformatory, as her father B L Van Woert rushed to comfort her.
