EC Professor Becomes Comic Book Expert in Ada Oklahoma
In 1941 a comic book All-Stars! showcased heroes in conflict. Ada librarian Jon Suter, a 27 year old English teacher, built a life around collecting rare comics, selling a 1941 find for 650 dollars and seeing the hobby grow into a billion dollar business. He notes nostalgia and generation shifts drive the market, cites Ray Bradbury and Mickey Spillane as writers who started in comics, and traces how the Comic Code Authority curbed violence and sex. Suter, pursuing a doctorate at Indiana University, spends about twenty dollars a year on the hobby, with finds in Oklahoma shops and attics.

Dr D D Creech state superintendent will discuss Trends in Oklahoma Education at the Thursday administrators banquet in the East Central Student Union. Dr J Herbert Hollomon OU president will deliver Young People and Education at Friday morning session in Science Hall. The event includes officer elections, luncheons, and departmental meetings with about 300 administrators expected.

Pontotoc County Soil and Water Conservation District enters the 24th annual Goodyear contest to pick the outstanding district. Judges from agricultural leadership will select the state winner. The program covers 1989 to 1969. top district class wins an expense paid work study trip to Arizona in December 1970 for one governing-body member and the best farmer cooperator.

OC College sit-in leads to student arrests in Oklahoma City
Seventeen Oklahoma Christian College students staged a sit-in at the campus administration building in Oklahoma City. They were arrested by Oklahoma City police after the demonstration began around 10 a.m. The college president confirmed the arrests.

Murray County Junior Livestock Show Monday at Sulphur fair barns
The Murray County Junior Livestock Show is set for Monday at the county fair barns in Sulphur. Washington reports the Agriculture Department says farmers signed up for the 1969 feed grain program reducing base acreage by 20 percent and diverting additional lands for payments. Through Feb 21, about 3.9 million acres were extra diversions, with wheat signups totaling 12.8 million acres toward a reduced 1969 allotment.
