Indictments by Duncan jury target county crime and morals
Six indictments covering a felony and five misdemeanors were returned by the Stephens county grand jury meeting June 8 in Duncan Oklahoma. The report urged stronger supervision of schoolchildren around teachers and addressed concerns about venereal disease in Duncan schools. The panel noted no slot machines but warned they could reappear after adjournment. Earlier, fourteen indictments were issued for liquor gambling and obscene literature. The jury paused for a break on June 10 and resumed, prompted by local merchants seeking thorough county enforcement. The chicken population in the United States was reported at 400,000,000.
