Pontotoc County 4 H Dairy Contest winners announced at OSU Extension Center last Thursday led by Top Boy Greg Nanney and Top Girl Karen Timmons. Readers Mrs Hall Mrs Aut McCullar and Ralph LaCrone assisted. demonstrations and talks started at 7 pm with multiple prize standings for senior and junior divisions among boys and girls.

The Soil Conservation Society South Central Chapter held its semi annual meeting in Ada on Saturday June 21. Members toured the Robert Kerr Water Research Center and learned about the Interior Department effort to solve pollution in streams and groundwater. A picnic followed with attendees from Ada Ardmore Duran Purcell Pauls Valley and others.

Mill Creek Man Killed in Train Crash
Levi Tolbert Jr., 36, Mill Creek, died after the road grader he operated was struck by a Frisco freight train on a private crossing one mile north of Troy. He was grading a private road from Oklahoma 12 to a spaninas plant when he crossed the track and died en route to Sulphur hospital.

Kinney Named Business Manager at Murray State College
Kinney, a former Ada Evening News advertising representative, is named business manager of Murray State College. A Sulphur High School and East Central alum, he pursued an MBA at Oklahoma State. He served in the army, worked at the Sulphur Times-Democrat, and lives with wife Doris Green in Sulphur with two children.

KONAWA Forrest Heed from Konawa is among 83 high school science and math teachers from 23 states chosen for the National Science Foundation Summer Institute in chemistry biology and mathematics at Kansas State College in Pittsburg. The $85 000 program directed by Dr. R C Smith runs June 9 to August 1. participants receive stipends up to 600 plus 120 per dependent up to four, eight cents a mile travel, no tuition, and enroll in two to three courses totaling eight to nine semester hours with a three year sequence.
