Robbers Hold Up Train on Illinois Diamond Special
Two masked men raided the Diamond Special express car near Springfield Illinois. They fired on passengers and forced the engineer to uncouple then fired five dynamite charges to open the safe containing about 500 dollars. Police pursued. Jesse Leslie 16 and James Connelly 20 were arrested as suspects. Bloodhounds tracked the search into Springfield.

Three Children Die In House Fire Near Hobart Oklahoma
Near Hobart Oklahoma on June 19 a fire swept a migrant Martin family home ten miles northwest of town while parents worked in a cotton field. Three children aged five three and four months perished along with Mrs. Bob Martin. The oldest boy was found at the door holding his infant sister as they tried to escape the flames. The Martins had moved from Texas this spring and were newcomers to the county.
