Cook Becomes New Editor of WEEKLY

The Ada WEEKLY appoints Don Cook as new editor after former editor Bob Heaton left. A Byng High School graduate from Oregon who arrived in 1962, Cook now studies English at East Central and aims to finish college later. He lived near Ada with grandparents C H Hampton and plans to engage regular contributors. He recently married Jeanette Dean and will settle in Ada.

Heaton Accepts Full Time Photography Post in Oklahoma City

Former NEWS staffer and WEEKLY editor Bob Heaton will join The Daily Oklahoman as a full time photographer, starting June 29 in Oklahoma City. Heaton is a well known Ada figure who acted in ACT productions and served as Sigma Tau Gamma adviser, with multiple one man shows in Ada Norman and Oklahoma City.

OCA Plans Tour Of Guymon Feedlots In July

Oklahoma cattlemen will host a two day tour July 1 featuring visits to Guymon and Garden City Kansas feedlots. Paul Mack will chair with plans by Glenn Cantrell and Bob Sheets and the extension service. The program begins at 8 am in Guymon with tours of Orville Nash and Henry Hitch Jr. feedlots and a lunch at Panhandle A and M College Goodwell.

Beef Prices Rise Across the Nation

The Associated Press reports puzzlingly higher meat prices with stock prices up $2.50 to $3 per hundredweight over 20 weeks at Kansas City yards. Fed steers reach $23 to $25, heifers $22.75, marking the strongest gains since 1961 to 1963.

Adaman Driver Killed In SH 19 Crash In Heavy Rain

Jay Pollock a 33 year old Adaman local dairy manager was dead on arrival at Valley View Hospital after his pickup collided head on with Roy J. Gentry 18 of Centra homa on SH 19 near Pickett. Gentry was listed in poor condition. Police say Pollock drifted over the center line during a driving rain.

Richard Bailey a 15 year old Allen High junior leads a robust 4 H program at Francis Grade School and Allen clubs. D D Duke longtime Stonewall superintendent resigns after 32 years to teach mathematics at Moore High School. Sybil Stokes named his replacement. Mrs Duke to teach home economics in Moore system. Duke notes planned retirement in three years and cites family ties to Midwest City.
