Corporations Face Donation Dilemmas And Budgets
Screening worthy donations proves costly for companies as they weigh charity guiding principles. Corporate giving totals about 300 million dollars annually, up from ten years ago, but remains roughly 0.75 percent of pre tax profits. Tax law allows up to five percent, potentially two billion dollars, but requires boards and stockholders to back worthy causes. Firms respond with foundations, annual budgets, or board committees to approve giving plans.
