Davis Henryetta turnpike plan to be discussed Thursday

Southern corn leaf blight can attack sweet corn especially varieties with Texas male sterile cytoplasm, while normal cytoplasm varieties resist. Blight symptoms match field corn and ear tips show grey to black rot. warm humid weather accelerates spread. Resistant varieties include Silver Queen, Golden Slipper, Seneca Daybreak, Jubilee, Mainstay among others. Control tactics: spray Dithane M-45 or Manzate 200 at 1% in water, start at third leaf below ear and early tassel stage, three applications at seven day intervals, harvest only after seven days post last spray.
