Ada Jet Jockey Returns From Vietnam After 13 Months
Marine Capt. Tom Wilson 27 returns to Ada on leave after a 13 month Viet Nam tour. An East Central graduate he flew a Skyhawk for close air support with the First Marine Division 7th Regiment 3rd Battalion at Chu Lai near Da Nang. He logged 80 missions.

Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Exam Dates Announced
The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will hold a merit examination for game rangers foremen and fish and game technicians on Saturday July 8 in seven state cities. Applicants must meet age height and education requirements with veterans receiving a five point preference. Top 15 percent on the test qualify for ranger consideration followed by interviews for vacancies. Locations include Oklahoma City Tulsa Enid Durant Lawton Woodward and McAlester.

Wildlife Department Buys 1443 Acres For Recreation Area
Oklahoma wildlife officials approved the acquisition of 1443 acres across three tracts for hunting and fishing. The Lexington Public Hunting Area addition totals 50 050 in Cleveland County along with 923 acres on the Blue River in Johnston County near Tishomingo. Federal funds cover 75 percent of the 188 050 total cost.

Pontotoc Soil District Approves Farm Plans and Ponds
The Pontotoc County Soil and Water Conservation District met June 5 at the SCS office. Plans approved for F. E. Fisher James A. Lambert Marvin Barnes Lonzo Qualls Otis Coffey and Lester Cummings. Three acres of gullies sprigged to Bermuda grass and six more acres completed on Don Cushman and Ed Menasco farms. Over 3,000 farm ponds built in the county with many stocked for fish and stockwater.

Prevent Clover Mites Entering Homes This Summer
Clover mites are invading homes and will continue through summer. To reduce entry, leave an 18 inch bare soil strip along the foundation, plant flowers in the strip, apply outdoor insecticides such as Malathion Kelthane or Tedion, spray around windows and building sides, vacuum to remove mites, and use indoor aerosols or sprays near windows.
Steed and Albert to be honored in Ada banquet
Congressman Tom Steed and House Majority Leader Carl Albert will attend a Chamber of Commerce banquet in Ada. Pontotoc County moves from the fourth district to the third under redistricting. The event at the Student Union Ballroom begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are 2.50 and on sale at local banks, the Chamber office, and Bryan's Corner Drug.

Harvesting and Storing Onions for June Maturity
