Voting Place Set for Wheat Referendum on June 20
Henry Little announced the polling site for the June 20 wheat quota referendum. Voters may cast ballots 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the County ASC office, 525 East Main Street, Ada. Eligible voters include growers with more than 15 acres of 1959 wheat harvests, excluding 1958 feed wheat participants who may farm up to 30 acres for on-farm use if quotas pass, with penalties or price supports defined by turnout and quotas.

Sleeping Sickness Hits A Few Horses In County
Local veterinarians report four or five cases of sleeping sickness among county horses this spring. Vets caution the situation is not alarming, citing weather driven insect activity and two virus strains. A vaccine exists and is being widely used, with injections given intradermally to protect for a year. Humans are rarely affected, and the disease in horses is equine encephalomyelitis.
