The NEWS reports return to normal after moving into a new building following a February fire. Staff resolved equipment gaps and crowded conditions, finishing setup last week and resuming regular daily and weekly publication routines.
Oakmanites are cutting brush at the Sportsmen's Lake park and hauling debris while some mix work with leisure and fish for channel cat. The NEWS held open house on Monday June 8 drawing about 250 visitors to the new spacious air conditioned building and front office led by publisher W. D. Littlehang.
Raymond Corvin spoke at the Vanoss Alumni Banquet recounting his boyhood in Egypt and his rise to founder of Southwestern Bible College in Oklahoma City. He described early wildlife studies in a cotton patch and credited mentors Tom Watson and Sam D Lowe for guiding his path to preaching.
A federal fish hatchery truck from Tishomingo visited Friday morning to stock local waters. The cooperative project by state and federal hatcheries and the Soil Conservation Service stocked seed fish to 36 conservation district cooperators who own 43 ponds, including bass and bluegills.
A 17 year old Choctaw boy Wayne Edmond Brashier died from injuries after a late night crash two miles southeast of Jesse Coal County. He was vacationing with his grandmother Estie Brashier. Funeral held at Stonewall Baptist Church.
Local correspondents are urged to send in all news items now that the Weekly is back in production. After four and a half months of cut content and tight space, the editor thanks staff for patience and loyalty and announces restrictions are off.
At the second East Central Quarterhorse Association show the only finalist from the county was Joe Lan owned by Davis Ranch Roff which placed second in the aged stallion class. Grand champion stallion Tamet a four year old owned by R D Stanfield Broken Arrow also won last year. Grand champion mare Smipetta Star owned by Johnston Quarterhorse Ranch Longview Texas. More than 100 horses from several states entered as judging went to 3 p m Sheriff Bill Broadrick announced the event and Bill Craft of Jacksboro Texas assisted.
Two local communities plan their annual homecoming events on June 14. Stonewall Day preparations are complete and the Frisco Home Demonstration Club will serve drinks, while the Center Homecoming is nearing final stages. Everyone is invited to both events.
Mrs J H Stephens reports weekend visits from Jack Griffith Stillwater and family plus Arden Coffey Latta and others in the community. Local residents helped with food for the alumni banquet at Vaness while Otis Coffey and Lloyd McIlroy played dominoes Friday night.
Beach California was a Saturday and Sunday stop for Joyce Jones and Mrs. June Webster with Elizabeth Ann and J H Stephens. Last week visitors included Roy Cantwell family plus Margaret Hyden of Ft Worth and others from Elmore City Stratford Latta Long Beach Stillwater and Roff. John Ray and wife fished at Lake Texoma Thursday with poor luck.
Mrs James Duncan and Pat and Karen of Oil Center visited Friday evening with Mrs Lee Jones and Joyce. Joann Jaquess of Pickett spent Thursday night with Joyce Jones.

Miss Roxie Cantwell of Norman spent the weekend with her parents Mr and Mrs Roy Cantwell and house guest Mrs Margaret Hyden of Fort Worth Texas They attended church services at Stratford Sunday morning with the group.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd McIlroy and guests from Bartlesville and Ada hosted Saturday dinner with Mr and Mrs Luster McIlroy and Beverly and Sunday dinner with Mr and Mrs Ted Cox Beverly of Gaar Corner and Mrs Floyd South and Katherine of Ada.
Miss Velta Johnson of Long Beach California and Mr and Mrs Lus are identified in a society notice as engaged to wed in coming ceremony. The brief item notes the couple’s families and location.

Lester McIlroy of Bartlesville then spent time with his brother Lloyd and Mrs McIlroy and attended the Vanoss alumni banquet Saturday.
Beach California residents hosted Mr and Mrs Richard Soutee and their children Willie Rebecca Janie and Karen along with Mrs Marjorie Soutee on Wednesday night Alva Johnson visited the Soutees Thursday morning.
Mrs N P Jones of Roff and her sister Mrs Pete Flatt of Richmond California visited Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Lillie Siner of Ada.
Visitors including Mr and Mrs Charles M Floyd Jr Janice Kay and Randy joined Mr and Mrs Richard Gilstrap Gilda and Keith of Texas Mr and Mrs R N Gilstrap of Roff Mr and Mrs Charles M Floyd Sr of Ada and Mr and Mrs Roy Glasgow for a recent gathering.
Mr and Mrs Lee Jones visited Sunday afternoon with Mr and Mrs Homer Hendrix of Roff, sharing time in a cordial social call.
Mr and Mrs John E Ray and Marilyn of Ada visited Friday night. The two Mr Rays fished at Caney Saturday and brought home a good catch.
