Ada city council passed an ordinance standardizing sidewalk work. It requires city supervision, uniform width and thickness, Portland cement specs, specific aggregate and joint filler, and ground preparation rules. Builders must consult the city clerk for definitive regulations before planning any sidewalk.
In Georgetown Massachusetts Burleigh Fernald's cow fell into a 20 foot abandoned well. Rescue efforts failed until neighbor Fred Morse suggested filling the well with water. The cow floated out and returned to the barn under her own power.
New York report says American defense officials doubt Russia will rely on many tanks, noting the US now has a tank equal to Nazi models. Army secretary Frank Pavels admitted at West Point that US and Russian tanks are comparable, signaling a cautious Cold War shift.
Partly cloudy weather continues in Oklahoma with a warm trend through tonight and Friday. Cooler conditions develop in the northwest tonight with lows from 54 to 60 degrees, while elsewhere lows range 68 to 72. Friday highs reach 88 to 92 degrees in most areas.

Surviving relatives include Lewtrr of Pe e Luther of Roff, H Bot Norman, Leon Lynas of Clovis NM, 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, brother Wallace ina of Britton.
J B McMeans, a 39 year old east Pontotoc county cattleman turned rodeo competitor, rose to top money in a Sunny Grand stampede in Washington. He won calf roping titles on both days and placed highly in bulldogging as Teppenish teams claimed multiple event wins.His parents, J A McMeans and wife, moved from Texas to Indian Territory 45 years ago where he grew up and now farms.
Two deaths Wednesday raised Oklahoma 1950 traffic toll to 14 from 207 a year earlier. Pet Jerry Upach, 21, Fort Sill, died in a Lawton hospital after his motorcycle skidded under a car on a Lawton street. Clemin Gilyard, 35, a McIntosh County farmer, died when his auto carrying five passengers crashed into an MKT train near Checotah. two passengers suffered minor injuries.

San Francisco report says 38 year old Dr Bertha Luthy of Jackson Michigan is indicted for lying to immigration officials to conceal birth in Russia Ukraine in 1912. She allegedly told Palo Alto inspectors she was born in Chicago in 1916. Indictment returns yesterday. Bail set at 1000 dollars. Conviction could bring five years and a two thousand dollar fine.
Former Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden wins a divorce decree after testifying that his wife deserted him in 1947. He described lengthy separations with his spouse visiting the United States in 1946 and refusing to return to Britain, with most time spent in the U.S. and Bermuda.
A United States B-29 from Fairfield-Suisun Air Base crashed off the Norfolk coast during a training flight, killing at least one and leaving four missing after more than 13 hours in Mae West life jackets. Survivors included Capt. Henry J. Walsh and Lt. Warren J. Ebert among others. two bodies were recovered and a fifth survivor later died.
Chickasha Oklahoma June reports girl politicians press Gov Roy J Turner to keep the Canadian River bridge open Friday night for a Boys State dance at Norman thirty five miles away. The girls senate sent a resolution and the governor issued an order to keep the bridge open for the event. Boys State is at the University of Oklahoma and Girls State is sponsored by the Legion auxiliary at the Oklahoma College for Women.
A northwest cold front lowers tonight’s lows in the Panhandle into the 40s while other Oklahoma regions see 68 to 72 degree readings. A winter storm blanks Montana with over four inches of snow. Oklahoma expected mid 30s in the Panhandle, 50s to 60s elsewhere, with generally fair conditions into Friday and no widespread rain.
An unprecedented number of Negro students seek admission to the University of Oklahoma summer term after a Supreme Court decision desegregating the institution. About 75 are on campus. housing space in segregated facilities is limited. Regents must approve each Negro application and certify course availability not offered at Langston.

A six year old Ada boy was committed to the State Boys' Training School in Stringtown by County Judge Tom D. McKeown after admitting thefts from members of the Ada American Legion. The boy admitted taking billfolds, cash, rings, a wristwatch, pocket knives and other items after entering the clubhouse through a window. He has prior run ins for larceny, and the judge retained parole power until age 21. An elderly man linked to the case remains jailed for failing to pay a fine, with City Police Judge J N King imposing a $10 fine for possession of stolen property.
City crews shift cleanup truck and team into Ward 15 south of Main between Broadway and the O.C.A. tracks. In charge Bill Castleberry says work should begin in the southwest area by Saturday and a notice of the next clean-up ward will be announced.
The Senate Armed Services Committee backed a three year extension of the peacetime draft while an amendment could spark a clash over Truman era desegregation policy. The bill would let the president extend inductions for ages 18 to 26 if needed and allow draftees to request units of their race in writing. Russell advocates preserving the write in choice to serve with whites or Negroes, with others free to pursue integration under presidential orders.
