Citizens urge immediate steps to open land donated for a city park. A temporary fence will surround the grounds by November with a plan to transplant ornamental trees. November 27 is proposed as a Thanksgiving Day to devote to park building and public support.
An editorial urges the Indian Territory to embrace home government and for all citizens to form their own reasoned conclusions without disgracing manhood or abusing citizenship. It notes past debate by editors lawyers and a class called democrats and calls for mass input and thoughtful action.
The piece recalls Mrs. c Malley and warns that light vows lead to social harm. It cites Miss Theodora Ti Van Wyck, daughter of a former Nebraskan, who faced a belated test of courage as a promised bride in Washington and reportedly has substantial independent income.

In a ceremony a bride to be and two suitors stood before two clergymen when she suddenly refused the vows saying she must think it over. The Commercial Hotel in Ada changes hands from Mrs. Lingie Johnson to Mr. M. T. Stephenson of Forney Texas. The hotel will close for renovations and reopen around August 10 under Mrs. N. B. Shands, Stephenson’s daughter, as manager and Ada citizen.
The 12 month old Laurena Crowder died after a three day illness last Saturday at 5 AM and was buried that afternoon. The Crowder family receives heartfelt sympathy from friends.
Last Monday night Bob Nester and deputies Woods and Roberts arrested Joe Brooks Jim Holt and another party about several miles south of Ada on horse stealing charges. They were brought to Ada and released for lack of certain witnesses.
Mrs. L. Johnson, once linked to the Territori aly famed Broadway Hash Foundry, left Tuesday to escape debt levies. The notice hints at overdue amounts and warns new associates about the individual’s character.
Ordinance No. 48 levies a ten mill ad valorum tax for public purposes in Ada for the year Lv02. Taxes collected go to the town treasury and follow existing collection laws. In force after passage and publication, approved July 21, 102, by Mayor H T Drury and Recorder S W Hill.
Ordinance No 49 amends Ordinance No 46 increasing license fee for non intoxicating drinks to 20.00 per year payable in advance and sets section 2 to read 2.50 per year payable in advance by the 21st day of July 187? Recorder S. W. Till.
Bolen disputes McKeown’s report to R G Dunn Co. Dick Couches dog ranch is a paying concern. Hoes returned but with ears off. Arthur Wilson plans to invest in a millinery stock at McGee. New street commissioner described as a hustler. F K Nance’s residence deemed an ornament to the city. M E Keller’s steam laundry whistle soon to be heard. Stan Mason rests easy after bonfire. Tobe Wardlow saw a red headed Indian at Francis. Keller notes the need for clean shirts and collars when taking in washing. Trade relief after closure. Roff inhabitants breathe easier after the hot air machine blew out. Broad Way church nearing completion. Bob Nester caught with boot at Francis. W H L Campbell has lost his home. Dr Doss says he will not recover. Ancient order of the Sons of Rest at Ada in flourishing condition. J W Crawford has a new hat. Secret marriage remains unknown.
In the city pound one sow marked over-slope in each ear and three barrow shoats marked over-slope and under bite in each ear were claimed by George Barns. Some hogs were found again and taken up with both ears of all cut off. Owners must call and pay for them to recover or they will be sold this week. R. C. Couch Marshal.
Pugh and Johnson purchase the cold drink and confectioner stock of J D Aydelott and plan to repair and reopen a neat cream parlor. They invite the boys to bring the girls and try their cream.
KE L Steed advertises salia leather shoes at reduced prices. The notice highlights sale of durable footwear with emphasis on affordability. Local shoppers are invited to visit the store for special deals and limited stock.
J. F. Floyd and wife left Ada on Saturday for Morton to start a new life as manager for a lumber company. Floyd was a prominent Ada businessman and his wife a leading society figure. The community wishes them success and hopes they return to Ada.
M. E. Keller has bought the Wall store on 12th street to house a steam laundry. He reports the machinery is en route and work on the plant will start upon arrival, a move likely profitable for both city and investor.
