LPG Supplies Diverted Abroad Warn Commission

Texas LPG Association lawyers presented exhibits alleging LPG supplies previously allotted to rural Texans are being diverted to other states and countries by producers. LPG dealers testified of canceled contracts and blocked gas flows. LPG production rose in three years, with 29 producers exporting to Mexico totaling 89.4 million gallons in Q1 1973. Association EVP Lowry Carpenter urged a rule barring diversion until consumer demand is met and a surplus exists, noting 1.5 million Texans rely on LPG amid fears of a cold 1973-74 winter.
